The current global pandemic has brought several shifts to how we perceive life, interact, work and communicate. While this is going well for some, it's a nightmare for others and possibly a combination of both for some.
We have put together some events and virtual engagements to support members of DevCLokoja during these trying times. These are the event plans for the next seven weeks in the first half of 2020 from 11th May 2020 - June 2020.
Program One (#7WeeksOfCode)
Last year November (2019), we announced the first #DevCLokoja30DaysofCode challenge for members of Facebook Developer Circle Lokoja to help members improve their programming skills or get started in programming by learning and writing code for 30 days in a row and get rewarded for their efforts (Here is the report from the first season).
We would be continuing this program by extending it to 7 weeks learning challenge where DevCLokoja members can improve their programming skills or get started in programming by learning and writing code for seven weeks in a row and get rewarded for their efforts.
Members will choose a category to learn from, and we would provide a recommended list of FREE tutorials and resources members during these seven weeks and engage them daily with motivation, more resources and tips.
This challenge starts on 11TH MAY 2020 and ends on the 22ND JUNE 2020.

Main Rules
- Learn and code daily for a minimum of 1 hour for the next seven weeks from the start date
- Share your progress every day with the community on the FB group with the hashtag #DevCLokoja7WeeksOfCode
- Submit your daily post link in this spreadsheet before 11:59 PM every day (we will use this sheet to select the TOP 3 ACTIVE MEMBERS)
- Every day, reach out to at least two people in DevCLokoja who are participating in the challenge and support or ask questions.
- Write a recap article at the end of the challenge to be published on our Blog and tell us effective the challenge was, how it went and what you learned or built during the seven weeks.

The focus of this program is to help members improve their programming skills or get started in programming by learning and writing code consistently.
Program Two (Weekly Challenges)
With respect to the #7WeeksOfCode challenge, we would have weekly challenges where tasks will be created for the 5 LEARNING CATEGORY, and members will work on them to win internet subscription prizes to keep them running for the seven weeks. First, two members to complete the task for each category wins the prize. Challenges details and guidelines will be posted here every week.
The focus of this program is to help and motivate members to improve their programming skills by writing code and building projects consistently.
Program Three (Weekly Live Streams)
To better support and keep our members motivated, we would also have 1 HOUR live streams on our Facebook group every Saturday in each week for the next seven weeks (+ this week) with a professional to discuss programming concepts from the learning categories alongside Q/As. Live stream topic and the speaker will be announced every week.
Our first live stream with Favour Ori (Software Engineer and Founder WeJapa & FavCode54) will happen on 9th May 2020.
